GSU-CST Faculty Joins Re-Echo Seminar on Designing Qualitative Social Science Research

June 20, 2025 | Salvador Campus

Faculty members from the College of Science and Technology (CST) of Guimaras State University (GSU) took part in the Re-Echo Seminar on Designing Qualitative Social Science Research held at Salvador Campus on June 20, 2025.

Organized to deepen faculty understanding of qualitative research, the seminar provided an opportunity for non-social science disciplines to explore the nuances of qualitative methodologies. Discussions centered on research design, data gathering, thematic analysis, and ethical considerations inherent in qualitative inquiry.

French Marie P. Edang, Instructor I, an invited plenary speaker, led the session with a comprehensive presentation on the core principles of qualitative social science research. Her insights gave CST faculty a clearer perspective on how qualitative research differs from technical and developmental studies, while also highlighting its potential applications in areas such as social impact studies and educational research.

Participation in the seminar enabled CST educators to broaden their research approach and strengthen interdisciplinary integration in their future scholarly work.
