GSU-CST Empowers Barangay Officials and Staff through Microsoft Excel Training

Guimaras State University – College of Science and Technology (GSU-CST) conducted a Microsoft Excel training workshop on June 24, 2025, at the Mosqueda Campus, equipping barangay officials and staff of Barangay New Poblacion, Buenavista, Guimaras with essential data management and visualization skills.

Aimed at enhancing the digital capabilities of local government personnel, the training featured hands-on sessions tailored to the practical needs of the participants. Dr. Reiner Jun Alminaza, Extension Coordinator, led the introductory session, focusing on the fundamentals of Microsoft Excel, including data input, formatting, and basic formulas.

Following the foundational session, Alfred John Borreros, MIT, Internationalization Coordinator, introduced participants to data visualization techniques. He demonstrated how to generate charts, graphs, and reports to present data effectively—enabling the participants to make informed decisions based on well-organized information.

This outreach activity underscores GSU-CST’s commitment to community empowerment through digital literacy, bridging the gap between technology and governance, and promoting inclusive development by extending university expertise beyond the academic setting.
