First-Year CST Students Showcase SDG Projects for Contemporary World Course

June 26, 2025 | Mosqueda Campus

First-year students from the College of Science and Technology (CST) at Guimaras State University (GSU) showcased their innovative and socially relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) projects as part of their course requirement for the subject The Contemporary World. The submissions were presented at the Mosqueda Campus and overseen by course instructor Desiree Gallarda.

The participating sections—BSIS 1A, BSIS 1B, BSCS 1A, and BSCS 1B—demonstrated their awareness and understanding of global issues through group projects anchored on selected SDGs. Projects tackled various themes such as climate action, quality education, clean water and sanitation, no poverty, and good health and well-being, among others.

Through this academic activity, students were given the opportunity to integrate critical thinking and creativity in addressing pressing global concerns at the local level. The initiative not only deepened their knowledge of contemporary global challenges but also reinforced their sense of responsibility as future professionals committed to sustainable and inclusive development.

This learning experience reflects GSU-CST’s commitment to developing globally competent and socially conscious learners through applied and reflective education.
