GSU Conducts In-Service Training for Faculty Members

Guimaras State University (GSU) successfully conducted an In-Service Training (INSET) for Faculty Members themed “Empowering Educators: Professional Development for Impactful Learning” on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall. The activity was attended by permanent faculty members and key university officials, reaffirming the university’s commitment to continuous professional growth and instructional excellence.

The In-Service Training aimed to enhance faculty competencies through discussions on institutional processes, digital innovation, and gender-responsive programs, equipping educators with essential tools to improve teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.

One of the sessions focused on important institutional documents, presented by Mrs. Ma. Rechel Pillora, HRMO V. Her discussion guided faculty members on key policies, procedures, and administrative requirements vital to maintaining professionalism and compliance within the university.

Another session of the training was the discussion on Digital Concepts: Integration of Digital Tools and Technologies to Improve Student Journey delivered by Prof. Adrian J. Forca, CST Dean. His participation underscored the active involvement of the College of Science and Technology in advancing digital transformation across the university. During his talk, Prof. Forca emphasized the growing importance of technology in education and introduced Notebook LM, a digital tool designed to assist faculty members in organizing academic materials, enhancing research and lesson preparation, and improving overall productivity. The tool was presented as a timely and essential resource for educators navigating modern and technology-driven learning environments.

Another significant topic discussed was Gender and Development (GAD) Activities and the Proposed Budget for 2026, presented by Mrs. Frennie D. Zarate, GAD Director. The session highlighted planned programs and strategic initiatives aimed at promoting gender sensitivity, inclusivity, and equitable participation within the university community.

The In-Service Training concluded with an open forum that allowed faculty members to share insights, raise concerns, and engage in meaningful discussions. Overall, the activity strengthened collaboration among educators and administrators while reinforcing GSU’s dedication to empowering faculty members through continuous learning, innovation, and professional development.
