The College of Science and Technology (CST) of Guimaras State University continues to strengthen its research presence in the international academic community as its dean and faculty member became co-authors of a recently published research article in collaboration with the researchers from Universitas Pakuan.
The research titled “Advancing Smart City Infrastructure: A Deep Learning-Based Framework for Real-Time Traffic Monitoring and Violation Detection Using YOLOv11” was published on March 1, 2026 in the Jurnal Informatika dan Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak (JATIKA), an international journal that publishes research in informatics, software engineering, and information systems.
The study was co-authored by Prof. Adrian J. Forca, Dr. Reiner Jun G. Alminaza, and faculty researchers from Universitas Pakuan. The research focuses on the development of an AI-based traffic monitoring framework using YOLOv11, designed to detect vehicle violations in dedicated bus lanes in real time. The system utilizes surveillance camera data, deep learning techniques, and performance evaluation metrics such as precision, recall, and mean average precision to improve urban traffic monitoring and transportation efficiency.
This international publication reflects the college’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and global academic collaboration. By working with international partner institutions, CST continues to contribute meaningful technological solutions and scholarly outputs that address real-world challenges while strengthening the university’s research footprint in the global academic community.
