The Guimaras State University (GSU) actively participated in the Official Kick-Off of the AI Regional Development Action Plan (RDAP) 2025–2030, held during the 1st Quarter Regional Development Council (RDC) Meeting on March 20, 2026 in Malay, Aklan.






Representing the university, the College of Science and Technology (CST) joined the event by participating in the AI-related technology exhibit of research posters, showcasing innovative outputs that contributed to the overall success of the kick-off activity. The exhibit served as a platform for institutions to present research advancements in artificial intelligence and demonstrate their role in supporting regional development initiatives.



Key highlights of the event included the presentation of the AI Regional Development Action Plan 2025–2030, the official launch of the Western Visayas AI Governance and Ethics Policy, and the demonstration of the RDC Region VI Chatbot—an AI-powered digital assistant designed to improve access to regional development information and services.




The event was graced by distinguished leaders from both the national and local levels, including Senator Risa Hontiveros, who served as the Keynote Speaker. Also in attendance were representatives from various local government units (LGUs) in Region VI, regional line agencies, and private sector partners, all expressing their support for the integration of AI in regional development through a ceremonial turnover.
GSU’s participation in this significant regional initiative highlights its commitment to innovation, research, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in addressing societal needs. By engaging in collaborative platforms such as this, the university continues to contribute to the advancement of technology-driven solutions aligned with sustainable and inclusive regional growth.
