GSU – Office of the Student Development Center Conducts Orientation Program for Freshmen and Transferee Students

September 12, 2025 | GSU Mosqueda Campus Conference Hall

The Office of the Student Development Center, in partnership with the Guidance Services Center, conducted its annual Orientation Program for first-year college students and transferees for Academic Year 2025–2026 on September 12, 2025, at GSU Mosqueda Campus Conference Hall.

The program gathered new students from the College of Science and Technology and College of Business and Management, aiming to help freshmen and transferees transition smoothly into university life and introduce them to the institution’s systems, services, and expectations.

Among the key topics discussed were the University’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGO), which serve as the guiding principles for academic and student development initiatives. Students were also oriented on the Students’ Code of Discipline, emphasizing the importance of responsible conduct, academic integrity, and adherence to university rules and regulations. Security services and campus safety protocols were likewise explained to ensure the welfare and protection of the student body.

In addition to policies, the orientation highlighted the various student services available at GSU. These include medical and dental services to safeguard students’ health and well-being, library resources to support academic success, ICT services to enhance learning and digital access, Gender and Development (GAD) programs that promote inclusivity and equality, and guidance services aimed at supporting students’ personal growth and mental wellness.

Through this comprehensive orientation, GSU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a student-centered learning environment. By equipping new students with knowledge about the institution’s values, policies, and services, the university ensures that they are well-prepared to face the challenges of higher education while making the most of the opportunities available to them.

The activity also served as a platform for interaction between the students and university offices, giving the participants a chance to clarify concerns and better understand the support systems in place for their academic journey.

With the successful conduct of the orientation, GSU looks forward to guiding its first-year and transferee students toward holistic growth, academic excellence, and active involvement in the university community.
