A public lecture themed “From Threads to Trends: The Intersection of Indonesian Heritage and Digital Innovation” was successfully conducted on October 30, 2025, at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall in collaboration with Universitas Pakuan (UNPAK), Indonesia, as part of the 2025 Internationalization (IZN) Student and Faculty Exchange Program.

Jointly organized by the College of Science and Technology (CST), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and the College of Engineering and Industrial Technology (CEIT), the activity gathered students and faculty members from the three colleges to explore how digital innovation and cultural identity intertwine in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The program opened with prayers, national anthems, and the GSU hymn, followed by Dr. Helen R. Vilbar, Director for International Affairs (IZN), who delivered the opening remarks. Prof. Adrian J. Forca, Dean of the College of Science and Technology, introduced the participants, while Dr. Erly M. Martir, VPAA, gave an inspiring message on behalf of the University President highlighting the significance of international collaborations and the role of technology in shaping the future.

Two distinguished speakers from Universitas Pakuan, Dr. Fajar Delli Wihartiko, M.M., M.Kom, and Gustian Rama Putra, S.Kom., M.MSI, served as the resource persons for the lecture.

Dr. Fajar discussed “Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology” and later introduced “Basic Indonesian Words and Phrases” to immerse the audience in Indonesian culture.

In between the lectures, the Taga Isla Dance Company delivered a vibrant cultural presentation, showcasing Filipino heritage through a traditional dance performance that bridged the academic and cultural spirit of the event.

Following the intermission, Mr. Gustian delivered two insightful topics: “Empowering Smart Cities with Next-Gen Sustainable Traffic Monitoring” and “Cultural Similarities of Indonesia and the Philippines.” His talks underscored the shared values and technological aspirations of both nations.

A lively Q&A session and forum followed, giving students and faculty the opportunity to directly engage with the speakers. Participants raised questions about artificial intelligence, blockchain applications, and the integration of cultural understanding in digital innovation. The exchange sparked meaningful discussions and demonstrated the participants’ enthusiasm for global learning and collaboration.

One of the highlights of the event was the signing of the Student Manifesto, where student exchange participants from Universitas Pakuan pledged to uphold academic integrity, mutual respect, and intercultural understanding during their exchange journey.

The program concluded with the giving of certificates and tokens of appreciation to the speakers, followed by closing remarks from Instr. James Ryan B. Ga on behalf of Dr. Kert D. Pillora, Director of Mosqueda Campus.

Through this meaningful collaboration, Guimaras State University and Universitas Pakuan continue to strengthen their international ties; bridging innovation, culture, and education toward a globally connected future.
