CST Joins Coastal Clean-Up Drive

Students, faculty, and staff of the College of Science and Technology (CST) gathered for a coastal clean-up activity on March 4, 2025, at Sitio Lagbas, Hoskyn, Jordan, Guimaras. This initiative, conducted under the Integrated Coastal Management Program, aimed to reduce pollution and demonstrate CST’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Various sectors, including the Philippine Coast Guard Guimaras, local officials, and community members from Hoskyn, collaborated with CST to ensure the success of this endeavor. Their collective efforts had a significant impact, contributing to the overall goal of preserving the coastal environment.

The clean-up activity yielded impressive results, with collected data highlighting the extent of pollution. Participants gathered 237 kg of PET bottles, 23 kg of glass bottles, 223.4 kg of rubber, 22 kg of Styrofoam, 2 kg of plastic cups, and 219.9 kg of soft plastics. These figures underscore the importance of sustained efforts to combat pollution and protect the coastal ecosystem.
