CST Joins First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

The First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill was successfully conducted on March 13, 2025, at the Guimaras Provincial Capitol, aiming to raise awareness and educate participants on proper earthquake response and safety measures.

Representing the College of Science and Technology (CST) were Dr. Kert D. Pillora, Mosqueda Campus Director; Lea P. Ymalay, BSCS Program Head; faculty members Mismo Querobin, Maximino Tormon III, Rolen Alanano, and Gio Albert Montaño; along with five students.

Various sectors across Guimaras collaborated in the drill, including the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police (PNP), among others. Key government officials, including Congresswoman Ma. Lucille Nava, Governor Rahman Nava, and Vice Governor John Edward Gando, also participated, reinforcing the importance of disaster preparedness.

The activity showcased coordinated response efforts, ensuring participants understood proper evacuation procedures and emergency protocols. CST’s involvement highlights its commitment to disaster resilience and safety education within the academic community.
