July 28-30, 2025 | GSU Agri-Eco Convention Hall

To further strengthen its commitment to delivering quality education and sustainable practices, Guimaras State University (GSU) conducted a three-day training on ISO 21001:2018/AMD 1:2024 Educational Organizations Management System (EOMS) and Climate Change Awareness from July 28 to 30, 2025, at the GSU Agri-Eco Convention Hall.

The training was attended by GSU key officials, faculty, and staff, with Mr. Kevin T. Castillon as the resource speaker. The primary goal of the activity was to equip participants with a deeper understanding of ISO 21001:2018, a widely recognized management tool designed for educational institutions, and its 2024 amendment, which integrates climate change considerations into the organizational framework.

The sessions discussed the 11 management principles of EOMS, emphasizing how these principles guide educational organizations to enhance learner satisfaction, organizational effectiveness, and stakeholder engagement. Participants were introduced to the updated provisions of ISO 21001:2018/AMD 1:2024, which now explicitly incorporate climate change as a vital consideration in planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The training also delved into the Climate Change Awareness component, where participants gained insights into the causes and impacts of climate change and its intersection with education. The session highlighted how educational institutions can act as drivers of climate action by embedding environmental consciousness into their systems and culture.

Conducted through lectures, group discussions, and interactive sessions, the training aimed to inform and empower GSU educators and leaders to take proactive steps in aligning with global standards and addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change.
This initiative reflects GSU’s proactive approach in embracing international standards, fostering continuous improvement, and promoting sustainability in education.
