November 7, 2025 | GSU – Mosqueda Campus

To strengthen disaster preparedness and safety awareness among students and personnel, Guimaras State University – Mosqueda Campus actively participated in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on November 7, 2025 with the theme, “Lindol ay ‘Di Kasalanan, Pero Kahandaan ay Kailangan,” highlighting the importance of preparedness and proactive response in times of disasters.

The activity was organized by the Buenavista Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (LDRRM) Office in coordination with the university’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee. The drill aimed to ensure that everyone on campus is equipped with the proper knowledge and response strategies in the event of an earthquake.
The conduct of the drill was prompted by the series of earthquakes recently felt in various parts of the Philippines, emphasizing that such natural disasters strike without warning. Hence, readiness and awareness are vital in minimizing injuries and damages.

Following the nationwide alert signal, participants performed the “Drop, Cover, and Hold” procedure, followed by the evacuation and headcount in designated open areas. LDRRM representatives evaluated the conduct of the drill, particularly the evacuation time, orderliness, discipline, and adherence to safety protocols.
After the drill, a post-drill debriefing was held, where evaluators provided their feedback.
Through this earthquake drill, Guimaras State University – Mosqueda Campus reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a culture of safety and preparedness within the academic community. The active participation of students, faculty, and staff demonstrated the university’s collective effort to ensure that everyone knows what to do before, during, and after an earthquake because disaster readiness is not just a requirement but a responsibility shared by all.
