December 5, 2025 | Buenavista, Guimaras

With hearts aglow and spirits lifted by the warmth of the season, the College of Science and Technology (CST) proudly joined the annual Buena Paskwa Year 16: GSU Night’s Himig sa Hayag, a Christmas-themed competition and performance showcase held in Buenavista, Guimaras. Anchored on the theme “Buena Paskwa: Gugma nga Nagapasanag sa Banwa,” the celebration highlighted the power of love and community as the true light of Christmas.

The event opened with a breathtaking Parade of Lights, starting from the GSU Grounds and making its way to the Buenavista Municipal Auditorium. GSU key officials, faculty, staff, and personnel illuminated the streets with glowing parols, vibrant colors, and candy-cane-themed outfits that turned the night into a living spectacle accompanied by dynamic street dance performances from various offices and organizations across Buenavista.

Two major highlights made the evening sparkle: the Hayag sa Pasko Faculty and Staff Christmas Runway and the Inter-College Choir Competition.

Faculty and staff from various colleges graced the stage in their most festive costumes for the Christmas Runway, followed by harmonious choral numbers from student performers representing each college. Both events showcased creativity, artistry, community pride, and the shared essence of Christmas.

In the runway competition, CST was represented by Mrs. Desiree Gallarda, CST Secretary where she dressed as a Frost Fairy — a vision of winter elegance in shimmering silver and white, complete with crown, scepter, and an ethereal presence that captivated the audience.
Her stunning performance and embodiment of the theme earned multiple distinctions, securing these awards:
– Theme Spotlight Award
– Vista Flare Award

She was then hailed as the Christmas Runway: Hayag sa Pasko Champion.
While CST reigned on the runway, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) claimed the spotlight in the Inter-College Choir Competition.
The success of Buena Paskwa Year 16 reflects GSU’s strong culture of creativity, unity, and community warmth. Through music, movement, light, and love, the celebration truly embodied gugma nga nagapasanag sa banwa — a love that brightens and brings people together.
