The College of Science and Technology successfully conducted the training workshop titled “LaTeX and Beyond: Training Workshop for CST Students and Faculty on Manuscript Templates and Publication Skills” on March 31, 2026, at the GSU Agri-Eco Convention Hall, GSU Salvador Campus.

The activity gathered 4th Year CST students and faculty members, providing them with essential knowledge and skills in research writing, formatting, and presentation in preparation for future academic and research engagements.

One of the resource speakers, Instr. Rachel G. Gallego, whose topic is centered on Digital Identity, guided the participants in creating their ORCID accounts and introduced a powerful tool, LaTeX, along with Overleaf, an online platform that enables users to efficiently format and package their research papers. Her session emphasized the importance of establishing a credible academic presence while utilizing modern tools for seamless manuscript preparation.

Meanwhile, Mary Llourane Faith Jornadal discussed The Anatomy of a Research Paper, focusing on the IMRAD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) structure. Her lecture helped students better understand how to organize their research effectively and present their findings with clarity and coherence.

Another speaker, Ms. Maria Lea E. Gatungay, delivered a talk on Visual Impact: Poster Templates, where she shared practical techniques on designing effective and engaging research posters. Participants gained insights on how to present their studies visually in a clear and impactful way.

The workshop aimed to equip students with the necessary skills in manuscript preparation and research poster, ensuring they are well-prepared for the upcoming 2nd CST Research Colloquium. Through this initiative, participants were guided in properly formatting their papers and enhancing their creativity.

A key highlight of the event was the Art of the Colloquium segment, where three student presenters from the International Conference of ISUFST shared their experiences. Their stories served as inspiration for fellow students, offering valuable advice on presenting research in academic conferences.

The activity was organized under the leadership of Adrian J. Forca, CST Dean, and James Ryan B. Ga, CST Research Coordinator. Overall, the workshop proved to be a meaningful and enriching initiative, benefiting both students and faculty members.
