Guimaras State University (GSU) Mosqueda Campus gathered its incoming first-year students, transferees, and new enrollees at the Conference Hall on September 2, 2026 for a comprehensive orientation program organized by the Guidance Office designed to ease their transition into university life. The activity aimed to acquaint the new students with the academic standards, administrative policies, and essential campus support services available throughout their stay at the university.
During the session, students were briefed on the university’s Quality Management System alongside their fundamental rights, duties, and responsibilities as GSU students. They also presented key academic policies and procedures, the university dress code, the student code of discipline, and the Mutual Aid Policy. The discussions also highlighted Republic Act 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, reinforcing the national mandate supporting free higher education for eligible students.
Another was the presentation of academic standards by CST Dean, Prof. Adrian J. Forca where he detailed the CST Retention Policy across the college’s degree offerings, outlining the general standard where students enrolled in four-year programs who receive a grade below 3.0 in at least three subjects in a single term are automatically dropped from the rolls or advised to shift. Specific GPA requirements were emphasized in all CST Programs offered.
Rounding out the orientation, they also introduced various student support offices to help navigate campus life safely and effectively. Representatives presented the functions of Security Services, the General Services and Development Office, the Medical and Dental Clinic, the University Library, the Guidance Services Center, and Multi-faith, ensuring students know where to access health, spiritual, and academic resources throughout their academic journey.
