The College of Science and Technology (CST) of Guimaras State University conducted a community extension activity focused on the use of Microsoft Word on March 11, 2026, at Barangay San Isidro, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Guimaras.

The activity was attended by barangay workers of San Isidro, who participated in the training to enhance their digital skills and improve their efficiency in performing office-related tasks in the barangay. The session was facilitated by selected CST faculty members, with Dr. Lea P. Ymalay serving as the resource speaker.

The extension activity aimed to equip barangay personnel with practical knowledge in using Microsoft Word, enabling them to apply the software in their daily administrative processes such as document preparation, reporting, and record management.

During the training, participants engaged in hands-on demonstrations and guided practice. They were taught the basics of typing, text formatting, inserting shapes and pictures, creating tables, and organizing data in documents. These practical activities helped participants develop the skills needed to produce organized and professional documents commonly used in barangay offices.

The facilitators also provided assistance and answered questions to ensure that the participants fully understood how to apply the tools and features of MS Word in their daily work.
This collaborative extension initiative highlights CST’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and strengthening community partnerships, empowering barangay workers with essential computer skills that support more efficient and effective public service delivery.
