In line with the celebration of Fire Prevention Month, Guimaras State University – Mosqueda Campus conducted a Fire Safety Lecture in partnership with Bureau of Fire Protection – Jordan Fire Station on March 16, 2026 at the GSU Mosqueda Campus.

The activity was attended by faculty members, staff, and students, who gathered to learn essential fire safety knowledge and emergency response procedures. The initiative aimed to instill awareness of the Incident Command System (ICS) while promoting a culture of discipline, preparedness, and safety within the community.

The morning session featured a symposium facilitated by BFP Jordan personnel, who provided informative discussions on various fire safety topics. These included the history of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the chemistry of fire, common causes and types of fire, and the parts and proper use of a fire extinguisher. The lecture helped participants understand how fires start and how they can be prevented or controlled.

In the afternoon, a fire drill simulation was conducted to give participants firsthand experience on how to properly respond during fire emergencies. The simulation demonstrated the correct procedures during an evacuation, as well as the roles and coordination required in emergency situations.

Through this collaborative activity, GSU Mosqueda Campus continues to strengthen its commitment to campus safety, disaster preparedness, and community awareness, ensuring that students and personnel are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively in times of emergency.
