With the theme “Hiliugyon 2026: One Heart, One Goal, One GSU,” Guimaras State University celebrated its much-awaited University Week 2026, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and guests in a week-long celebration of camaraderie, culture, sportsmanship, and excellence.

The festivities officially commenced on June 2 with a vibrant parade around the Municipality of Buenavista and the University grounds. The opening event was graced by the University key officials, distinguished guests, faculty and staff members, and students from the different colleges. Participants proudly marched while carrying their respective college banners and colors, accompanied by their representatives for the prestigious Mr. and Ms. GSU 2026 pageant.

The opening program featured the ceremonial raising of the University and College banners, symbolizing unity and school pride, followed by the opening of various booths that showcased the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of the university community.

Throughout the week, the College of Science and Technology (CST) actively participated in the various sports and cultural competitions organized as part of the celebration. CST student-athletes demonstrated determination and teamwork in the Volleyball competitions for both Men and Women categories, while talented performers showcased their skills in the Sidlak competitions, including Vocal Solo (Kundiman), Pop Solo, Quartet, Choral Competition, Live Band Competition, Folk Dance, and Street Dance.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the celebration was the Mr. and Ms. GSU 2026 pageant, where candidates from the different colleges competed not only for beauty and charisma but also for intelligence, confidence, and leadership.

Representing the College of Science and Technology in the prestigious pageant were Ms. Shane Banares and Mr. Gerald Pacite, who proudly embodied the college’s commitment to excellence, confidence, and school spirit throughout the competition.

University Week 2026 served as a platform for students to strengthen friendships, celebrate diversity, and showcase their talents and skills beyond the classroom. More importantly, it reinforced the university’s commitment to fostering unity and collaboration among its stakeholders, truly reflecting the spirit of “One Heart, One Goal, One GSU.”

As the week-long celebration concluded, GSUhanons were left with unforgettable memories, strengthened bonds, and renewed pride in being part of the GSU community.
