The College of Science and Technology (CST) proudly celebrates another milestone as four faculty members have been accepted as participants in Batch 3 of the Advancing Technology in Tertiary Education through Artificial Intelligence (ATTAIN) Program under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Higher Education Upskilling and Study for Advancement of Staff and Faculty (HUSAY) Grant.
The selected faculty members are:
- Dr. Lea P. Ymalay
- Dr. Reiner Jun G. Alminaza
- Prof. Divon G. Tamdang
- Dr. Simeon J. Cainday III
The four faculty members were among the shortlisted applicants selected to participate in the intensive training program conducted by the National Teachers College (NTC). The training is scheduled from August 3 to 14, 2026, equipping higher education educators with the knowledge and practical skills to effectively integrate artificial intelligence into teaching and learning.
Project ATTAIN is a professional development initiative designed to help educators maximize the potential of artificial intelligence in higher education. Beyond introducing AI tools, the program aims to transform participants into “Learning Architects” capable of designing engaging, AI-enhanced learning experiences while maintaining the essential role of human expertise, critical thinking, and academic integrity.
Throughout the ten-day training, participants will engage in synchronous learning sessions and hands-on workshops covering AI-assisted instructional design, prompt engineering, Google Gemini, NotebookLM, AI-enhanced assessment development, classroom AI policies, and module creation. By the end of the program, each participant is expected to develop a fully functional AI-enhanced course module, craft a clear AI-use policy for students, and establish more efficient instructional workflows.
The participation of the CST faculty members shows the college’s commitment to embracing innovation and strengthening digital transformation in higher education. The knowledge and competencies they will gain through Project ATTAIN are expected to enhance classroom instruction, improve learning outcomes, and support the university’s mission of delivering quality, future-ready education.
