The College of Science and Technology (CST) of Guimaras State University (GSU) warmly welcomed delegates from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia for a Research and Academic Engagement Visit scheduled from August 23 to 27, 2026.
The UTP delegation was welcomed upon their arrival by Prof. Adrian J. Forca, CST Dean; Instr. Desiree G. Morales, CST Internationalization (IZN) Coordinator; and Instr. James Ryan B. Ga, CST Research Coordinator. Their presence marked the beginning of a week-long engagement focused on strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
Representing UTP were Ts. Dr. Halimaton Saadiah Hakimi, Lead Delegation together with Ts. Dr. Manoranjitham Muniandy, Ts. Dr. Fatin Shamimi M Zuki, and Ts. Dr. Siti Nurlaili Bt Karim.
The visit serves as an important avenue for both institutions to exchange expertise, explore research opportunities, and deepen their academic partnership. More than an exchange of knowledge, the collaboration represents a shared vision of innovation, cooperation, and mutual growth, creating opportunities for faculty members and researchers from both universities to work together on areas of common interest.
Throughout the engagement, the delegates are set to participate in a series of academic, research, and cultural activities. These include the conduct of general lectures and an Official Courtesy Call with the GSU University Leadership, providing opportunities for academic dialogue and institutional discussions.
Another part of the visit is the research data collection focusing on digital tourism using Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The delegates will also visit Guimaras’ cultural heritage sites and landmarks, providing an opportunity to experience the province’s local culture while gathering relevant research data.
The Research and Academic Engagement Visit reflects CST and GSU’s continuing efforts to strengthen international partnerships, collaborative research, academic exchange, and innovation. Through engagements such as this, the university continues to create opportunities for knowledge sharing and joint initiatives that can contribute to both local and global academic development.
