CST Dean Highlights Global Opportunities for IT Students at Global Horizons 2026

CST Dean Prof. Adrian J. Forca, took part in the Global Horizons 2026: Welcome and Internationalization Talk for BSIT Students held at Leyte Normal University (LNU), Tacloban, Leyte, on August 28, 2026.

The internationalization talk brought together international speakers, faculty, and students from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) of LNU  to explore opportunities beyond the local setting and gain a broader perspective of the global IT landscape.

Prof. Forca discussed “Internationalization and Global Opportunities for IT,” where he shared the internationalization initiatives and best practices of the College of Science and Technology of the university.

He presented the various internationalization programs of CST, its growing network of international partners, and the opportunities made available to students and faculty through international collaborations.

The CST Dean emphasized that internationalization goes beyond traveling or participating in activities abroad. Through student and faculty exchange programs, international partnerships, research collaborations, and cultural immersion, participants are given opportunities to develop skills and perspectives that contribute to their personal, academic, and professional growth.

He highlighted how these international experiences provide exposure to new technologies and ideas, encourage innovation, and support the holistic development of students and faculty. He also underscored the value of international collaboration in strengthening research and publications, while fostering meaningful cultural exchange and understanding.

Through his presentation, Prof. Forca shared CST’s experiences and best practices in internationalization, demonstrating how global partnerships can serve as avenues for knowledge-sharing, innovation, research collaboration, and the development of globally competitive IT professionals.

Joining Prof. Forca was Ts. Dr. Halimaton Saadiah Hakimi of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), who delivered a talk on Global Horizons 2026: Internationalization Talk for BSIT Students, highlighting the importance of international exposure, global competencies, and cross-cultural experiences in preparing students for an increasingly interconnected world.

The Global Horizons 2026 initiative serves as a platform for students to recognize that opportunities in Information Technology extend beyond geographical boundaries. By engaging with international institutions, experts, and communities, students are encouraged to broaden their horizons, embrace diverse perspectives, and prepare themselves for the demands of the global technology industry.
