The College of Science and Technology (CST) conducted a Capstone Orientation for Students and Parents on July 14, 2026, at the GSU Mosqueda Campus Conference Hall. The orientation gathered 3rd Year students taking the Capstone course together with their parents to provide a comprehensive overview of the college’s research program, capstone requirements, and academic policies for Summer 2026.
The meeting aimed to prepare students for the capstone journey, ensuring they understand the research process, institutional guidelines, and expectations from conceptualization up to project completion and publication.

During the orientation, CST Dean Prof. Adrian J. Forca presented the Capstone Roadmap, outlining the different phases of the research process. From Title Defense, Pre-Oral Defense, Final Oral Defense, and Research Colloquium, culminating in the publication of research outputs. Students were also encouraged to publish their studies in international peer-reviewed journals.

Several important policies were likewise discussed, including the members per research group, the requirement that students personally develop their capstone applications without outsourcing the programming work, attendance and proper attire during scheduled defenses, and the expected expenses and requirements throughout the conduct of the capstone project.

The orientation also introduced several enhancements to the college’s research program. Students were encouraged to align their research with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The college also highlighted its vision of deploying completed capstone projects to identified beneficiaries, allowing student innovations to create meaningful impact in communities.
In addition, participants were informed about the composition of the defense panels, the requirements for the 2026 Research Colloquium, and the participation of local and international partner universities, which are expected to deliver lectures and serve as evaluators during the presentation of student research outputs.
Through this orientation, CST continues its commitment to developing competent researchers, innovative problem-solvers, and globally competitive graduates, while fostering collaboration with parents in supporting students throughout one of the most significant milestones of their academic journey.
